EXPERTS IN CHILDCARE

A little about us

Acorns was established in April 2000 to provide an excellent standard of child care for local parents and children. We are registered to care for children aged 1 to 5 years old at our main nursery at 64 Doagh Road, Newtownabbey. Our afterschool club is situated at St Johns Church, 283 Shore Road and we also offer wraparound care in Abbots Cross Primary School.

We are early years registered and vetted by social services, adhering to all nursery provision requirements and legislation. We maintain the necessary records, policies and procedures that are required for efficient and safe management of the nursery. Our annual inspection reports and a copy of all policies are available on request.

We offer a structured curriculum which is designed and delivered through observations and themes. Our staff work together to develop age appropriate, mentally stimulating environments for the children.

The security and safety of our children is of the utmost importance. All of the entries and exits to Acorns are protected - either by buzzer or a lock system - allowing
staff to approve anyone who wishes to enter the nursery premises.

Our Values

Everything we do at Acorns is guided by a set of core values we are committed to:

  • Care

We treat all of our staff and children with care, courtesy and respect.

  • Dedication

We are committed to helping all of our children achieve their full potential.

  • Passionate

We are passionate about childcare and aiming for excellence at all times.

Settling in

We recommend that your child has a settling in period to enable them to become comfortable with staff and their new setting. This allows them to adapt to the nursery routine and become familiar with nursery life. The length of the settling in period will depend on the individual child.

Food

At Acorns we understand the importance of a healthy well balanced diet for children, therefore we provide nutritional meals, with a strong focus on fresh fruit and vegetables. All meals are prepared on site, home made with fresh ingredients. We provide water and milk to drink throughout the day. Acorns also follows the guidelines of the local council programme ‘ Nutritious Nursery Nosh’ and have received a food hygiene rating level 5.
